A Young man and Young girl were tied to a tree by her father and others at yesterday in Banswara district Dobapara village. They are in love eachother. they tied as a punishment for eloping. Following a protest by villagers, the police rescued the couple, both from the tribal community, last night. Girl’s father Gautam Lal, who is a former up-sarpanch (deputy sarpanch) and brother were arrested for assaulting the tribal youth, SHO of Arthuna police station Surendra Solanki Said. Vimla who was studying in a private college and Kantilal, working as laborer, were in love and had eloped in February from their villages close to Arthuna police station. After eloping, the girl talked to her mother over phone and disclosed her location. The girl's father and others rushed to Ahmedabad location and brought them back to the village and tied to them to a tree as punishment. On hearing the couple’s cries, the villagers held a protest. They informed police after which the couple was rescued. Kantilal was said to be married. The girl's father and brother were arrested under IPC’s Sections 342, 147, 148 and 323. In another development, the girl today filed an FIR alleging that Kantilal lured her and raped. Police have lodged an FIR under Section 376 of the IPC and are probing the case before arresting the accused, the SHO said.
